What is necessary? Why do we hold onto things? What shall we keep and what should we let go?
I asked the visitors to write down what they want to get rid of:
Questions. Nightmares. Thoughts. Memories. People. Problems. Worries. Fears. Habits. Regrets. Pain(…)
Within my performance I used those as a material. It was an act of letting go. A Ritual. Burning it, reading and whispering it and then shouting it into the milky water. One after another.
As I am burning the last pieces of paper out of the black box the audience is suddenly leaving the place. Music starts somewhere in the house and another event begins.
The last thing I burn is “Hate”. What is left is a pile of ashes. I begin to rub it allover my body. White turns to black. Disappearing into the darkness. Then into the water. Again white becomes black. I try to wash it all off.
